Green is in, kids. Everything is going green, and thanks to the hard work of Elon Musk (an awesome villain name) and Tesla Motors, even the supercar you’ll never be able to afford unless you win the lottery is getting a greener outlook (and we ain’t talking about the paint). Porsche has unveiled the Porsche 918, an electric/gas hybrid sports car that retails for a robust $600,000.
Just in case the $100,000 Tesla Roadster and the $40,000 Chevy Volt were too cheap for you, now you’ve got a REALLY obnoxious option that you can rub in people’s faces! There’s finally something that’s both more expensive than your neighbor’s car AND more ecologically friendly than your neighbor’s car! Win-win, baby!
The Porsche will be powered by the current power plant of the Spyder, a 500-horsepower V8. On top of that, there are TWO electric motors that pump out an additional 218 horsepower combined! There are four modes, from full electric to full-on race mode, and the car promises to get an estimated 78 miles per gallon (I assume that’s not in race mode) while maintaining a top speed of just under 200 miles per hour. Not bad, Porsche.
