Houshand Jafari finally snapped. The 58-year-old real-estate developer lived in a luxury multimillion dollar flat in a former mansion in Bristol, but there was only one problem with the shared garden arrangement. One of his neighbors, Dr. Mark Blokland, kept flying his stupid helicopter into the garden, blowing debris all over Jafari’s Land Rover. Finally one day, as Dr. Blokland and wife Tammy were about to take off for another pleasure trip through the air, Jafari snapped and attacked the helicopter with his bare hands.
Jafari not only tried to pry open the pilot’s door and kicked the Jet Ranger aircraft, he also hurled a bag of chicken bones at the rotors and, as the plane took off, grabbed the skid and held onto it with all his nearly 300-pounds of bulk. This action caused the helicopter to nearly crash, which is what lead to Jafari’s arrest in what might be the world’s first man versus copter air rage attack. Only the pilot’s quick actions averted disaster.
Said Judge Michael Roach, “It might have had catastrophic consequences. You physically interfered with a helicopter on take off. In my judgment your behaviour was deliberate and reckless.”
