One of the things I love (as my waistline could attest) is the pairing of food and drink. When you stumble across the perfect combination of food and drink, or main course and side item, or the right trifecta of pizza toppings, there’s nothing quite like that feeling. It’s knowing that you’ve just nailed something perfectly, that you’re a true gourmet of inexpensive fast food pizza. However, it’s not easy. That’s why a German named Norbert Wittman has set up a master’s degree in sausages.
The degree, offered by the Sausage Academy in Neumarkt, Germany, is basically a sausage lover‘s how-to guide. Among the classes are courses on the pairing of sausages to mustards, sausages to beer, and of course, sausages to music. There’s also a class on general sausage appreciation, which sounds like my kind of higher (cholesterol) education. So far, 1300 students have received their MFE (Master’s of Fine Eats) degree.
No doubt more are on the way.
