Google’s been launching new products left and right lately. For every noteworthy failure like Google Wave, there’s some noteworthy success (or at least noteworthy improvement to existing successes) to go along with it. The latest Google goodie to go live is Google Realtime, which basically serves as a real-time stream of information aggregator culling together Twitter streams, Facebook queries, blog posts, news updates, videos, and pretty much everything else they can get their search spiders to chew on. Not only is Google Realtime cool, it also seems to be working really well.
Will Google Realtime change the search engine game? No, not really. However, if you’re looking for the latest in hot news, as I tend to do, it’ll definitely prove itself to be really helpful. I doubt it’ll be useful for researching purposes, but for getting a general feel of the hot trends and getting a grasp of what’s going on in the world RIGHT NOW, it’s going to be a big deal.
