Leave it to Google to never rest on its laurels. Their GMail service is the best of the best as far as webmail service goes, having surpassed Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, and all the other free webmail servers thanks to its integrated chat, telephone/voice chat/VOIP, and spam filtering services. Now, GMail is about to organize your email for you, too!
It’s being dubbed a priority inbox, and basically, GMail is going to use the same technology that it uses to automatically filter out spam and automatically sort your email into priorities, from important to normal and spam. Those people you email most often and those emails you reply to most often help train Google to detect the people and messages that matter to you; if that doesn’t work out, you can also train Google’s inbox prioritizer to move certain people from the normal inbox to the important one as you need.
It’s all about sorting through that unread mail a little bit faster. After a long day at work, the last thing I want is to spend 15 minutes sorting through mountains of mailing list junk, press releases, and other pointless fluff to get to the people I actually need to respond to immediately, so maybe this product will help me out a little bit.
