Whenever you’re planning to move, it’s always best to do some research before you go traveling into a brand new town. After all, you don’t want to move into a bad part of town, and generally those areas are pretty well known to the locals, who know enough to steer new visitors away from them. Here’s a list of America’s 25 most dangerous neighborhoods; when you’re looking for places to avoid in various towns, these places should be at the top of your list.
The cities with the biggest presence on the list? While Chicago has the most dangerous neighborhood, Atlanta and Las Vegas have the most violence in the most areas. Must be all the candy-munching mobsters!
I’m a little surprised to see the Smoketown neighborhood of my hometown included on the list, if only because Louisville isn’t a city with the violent reputation of a place like Washington D.C., Cleveland (America’s misery capital), or Memphis. A little surprised, but not shocked; it’s definitely one of the worst neighborhoods in the city. I’m stunned not to see Miami’s abysmal Liberty City on the list of roughest neighborhoods; that place is one of the few neighborhoods that has legitimately scared me while passing through it.
