Osiris the cat has a particular place he likes to roost. Like all cats, he likes things flat, warm, and out of the way, so rather than finding a sunny windowsill, he took a perch on top of the family toaster oven. It’s warm, flat, and out of the way of the family dog. However, one day, Osiris’s roost on the toaster oven turned into a tragedy as the cat accidentally turned the oven on. The cat’s habit of sleeping on the toaster oven started a fire in the house!
Still, Osiris’s owner, Lois Lund, doesn’t blame the cat for the fire in Lund’s Port Townsend, Washington, home. After all, no one was hurt; even the cat escaped unharmed and needed no medical treatment. Estimates have the damage from the fire at about $5000, with Lois estimating repair bills in the neighborhood of $20,000.
