When authorities detected unusual levels of radiation in Terminal A at Newark, New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport, they suspicion was placed squarely on a package found at one of the terminal’s American Airlines desks. The package was found behind a ticket counter at a security checkpoint. The terminal was shut down and the package was checked out. As it turns out, a computer monitor leaking a normal amount of radiation shut down an entire terminal in one of the nation’s busiest airports.
I’m sure it’s better safe than sorry, but does no one realize the difference between a monitor’s radiation level and an Iranian atomic bomb? Apparently the monitor was just emitting a standard amount of radiation; given the amount of stray atoms being thrown around in airports by x-ray machines and nudity-viewing scanners and whatnot, shouldn’t everyone at the airport be wearing lead underwear?
