There have been a lot of unusual coincidences of birth covered here at PopFi. It’s one of the more interesting topics I’ve found, if only because I like nice round numbers. For example, I love stories like the 10:10 babies born on 10/10/2010, and the one about the baby born at 20:10 on 20/10/2010. Ashley Fansler, from Machesney Park, Illinois, can top them. Ashley Fansler’s twin children were born in different years; one baby was born in 2010 and the other in 2011 thanks to a New Year’s Eve labor that happened to fall at just the right time. It’s not often that you give birth to the last baby of 2010 and the first baby of 2011!
Madisen Carin Lewis was born at 11:59 PM on December 31, 2010. A minute later, her brother Aiden Everette Lewis was born at 12:00 AM on January 1, 2011. The twin babies both have different birth days and different birth years despite being born only a minute apart! Father Brandon Lewis called the countdown to the children’s births the best New Year’s countdown he’s ever been a part of.
Some gap between twin births can be expected; fortunately for Ashley, her gap between babies was seconds, not days. It must be awful to give birth, then have to go back in and do it all over again a week later.
