Ryan Tharp, like most Oregon Ducks fans, is confident his team will win the 2011 BCS National Championship game versus the Auburn Tigers. Tharp is so confident, he’s got a bet out, just waiting for someone to take him up on the offer. Oregon Ducks fan Ryan Tharp wants to marry a female Auburn Tigers fan in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the loser of the bet paying for the divorce.
“I, along with several buddies, will be celebrating the Duck victory in Vegas from Jan. 11 to 14. During that extravaganza, I plan on taking in the entire Vegas experience, including marrying a stranger,” he writes in his Craigslist ad. “So, if you are going to be in Vegas after the National Championship, believe in your Tigers and want to have stories to tell your grandchildren (won’t be mine) then shoot me an e-mail with a pic.” Tharp rationalizes his bet this way, explaining, “It’s the same situation as if I was betting an Auburn person to get a tattoo. But instead of regular tattoos, we get temporary tattoos.”
Well, it’s a lot cheaper than losing $127 million at the casino, even if it is pretty trashy. Then again, Vegas is a celebration of glittery sleaze, so in this way it’s completely reasonable.
