Well, the wheels went off that particular train pretty quickly, didn’t it? Ted Williams, the homeless man with the golden voice who lost everything to drugs and alcohol, claimed he’d been sober for two years when the Internet turned him into an overnight superstar. Well, after looking into the incident where Williams and his daughter were detained by police after an argument, apparently some of the shine is off of Williams’ redemption story. According to sources at The Dr. Phil Show, Ted Williams has resumed drinking alcohol and has agreed to go into rehab to kick his addiction.
“If Ted is ever going to get better, he’s got to be honest with himself and admit he’s addicted to drugs and alcohol,” said Dr. Phil McGraw, the eponymous Dr. Phil who the show is named after. “I’ve told him it’s not going to be easy and it’s going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction.”
Williams had traveled to LA to film several episodes of The Dr. Phil Show. It was during the taping of the third episode, after many long one-on-one talks with Dr. Phil, that Williams admitted that he still used alcohol and agreed to head to rehab to get clean and sober for real. It is unknown whether or not this will affect his various job opportunities. Hopefully not, because he’ll need something to take his mind off drugs and alcohol once he gets out of rehab.
