Given the heavy rains in Australia, local rivers are very dangerous for the inebriated and uninitiated. However, that doesn’t stop the occasional person from going crazy. A pair of 19-year-olds, a man and a woman, took advantage of the flooding by hopping onto the Yarra River in Queensland, Australia, and going for a ride. Since they didn’t have an actual raft, they just used a pair of inflatable women. Everything was going fine until the couple got stranded near Warrandyte North. The woman riding the rubber woman down the flooded Yarra River had to be rescued by emergency responders after losing her inflatable.
The couple were checked out by a medical crew and were unscathed by their brush with death. A good laugh was had by all. However, local police officials were not amused, given that they’ve had to rescue 50 people in Victoria due to the flooding in Australia. When there’s a real emergency and people in situations out of their control, it’s usually best to stay out of danger caused by your own stupidity.
“We’ve got people busy with rescues and to have to divert resources to that sort of thing is not ideal. Most rescue organisations would frown on people behaving in such a manner because there are people out there who are in genuine need of assistance,” said Senior Constable Wayne Wilson. “The fate of the inflatable dolls is unknown.”
