In a real-life version of Assault On Precinct 13, a shotgun-wielding maniac stormed the Detroit Police Department’s Northwestern District and shot four police officers before being shot and killed by the police. Insane, isn’t it? Apparently, this gunman, armed with a pistol-grip shotgun, just walked into the precinct and just started gunning down cops, according to Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr.
If you thought police station attacks like this only happened in Mexico, or that Walmart was the center of the craziness in America, think again. The four officers shot were a female sergeant at the front desk, Commander Brian Davis, Sergeant Ray Saati, and Officer David Anderson. Davis underwent surgery for his wounds; Saati was grazed in the head and will be held for observation. Anderson and the female desk sergeant were treated and released with minor injuries; Anderson was also grazed in the head and the female sergeant was shot in the chest but saved by her bullet-proof vest.
“Incidents like this are very sobering and remind us of just how vulnerable we all are,” said Godbee in a press conference at Sinai Grace Hospital, where the injured police officers were taken.
