New York City is not getting much of a break this winter. The Big Apple and the rest of the eastern seaboard keep getting hit with snow, time and time again. As of this morning, Central Park was under 15 inches of snow, and more is on the way in a full-fledged snow emergency. If you thought the Christmas blizzard was bad for New York, I can’t wait to see how bad this blizzard might be. This is the fourth storm of 4 inches of snow or more, and this makes 37 inches of snow on NYC since the Christmas Blizzard.
Not only is New York buried with snow, New Yorkers are basically stuck where they are. The transit authority is paralyzed. The three major airports are closed. Schools are closed for only the ninth time since 1878. Bus service in New York and northern New Jersey is suspended.
“It’s annoying, it’s inconvenient,” said New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, echoing the frustration of his citizens. “I didn’t get up this morning, make a few snowballs and throw them at anybody – but the thought occurred to me.”
