Yesterday, the panic was palpable in the Nashville suburb of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, as Middle Tennessee State University was locked down and SWAT teams were called in after a report of a school shooting at MTSU. During an altercation with a former student named Austin Morrow, MTSU junior Justin Macklin pulled a gun and fired it at the ground. The bullet ricocheted up and hit Morrow in the thumb. Morrow, apparently mad after being shot, then chased Macklin into a building, where he hid in a classroom. (I guess this explains why Macklin used a gun to try and solve his dispute, since he can’t win a fair fight.)
Cue the panic, and cue the school’s quick action. Not long after the shooting took place, MTSU was locked down tighter than a wallet dropped in hot glue. While in this case it doesn’t appear that the school shooter, Justin Macklin, was actually aiming on shooting up MTSU, it’s definitely better to be safe than sorry in this case.
Police eventually discovered Macklin hiding in a classroom; police also discovered two bags of marijuana in the building. No word on whether or not those are actually Macklins, or if they belong to some errant philosophy professor.
