Lady Gaga is serious business, and she proves time and again just how successful and popular she is with every chart-topping hit.  For example, Gaga’s latest single “Born This Way” raced to the top of the Billboard charts this week, making it only the 48th song to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.  However, it was more than a milestone for Gaga, it was a milestone for Billboard:  Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” was the 1000th number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

As if that wasn’t a big enough honor, Gaga also broke a sales record in the process of charting her third number one hit song.  “Born This Way” sold over 448,000 downloads in a single week, shattering the record for the largest amount of downloads for a female artist in a week.  Gaga also has over 1 billion views on YouTube.  Whether you like her or not, you have to admit that Lady Gaga is one of the most powerful women in entertainment.

In related Billboard news, Elvis Presley’s career record of 108 tracks to chart in the top 100 has now been supplanted.  Guess who pushed Elvis out of the Billboard record books?  That’s right, it’s Glee.  The show has charted 113 tracks in the Billboard Hot 100.
