Tomorrow is a big day for fans of things on vinyl record. It’s Record Store Day, and that means it’s a celebration of music. Bands, both major and minor, flood record stores with incredible, limited edition releases, one-of-a-kind 45’s, and all kinds of other cool swag all designed to celebrate the awesomeness that is an independent record store. These places aren’t exactly thriving right now, considering the climate of downloading and a general downturn in music sales, but that’s the very reason why they have Record Store Day, and why you (yes, you) should amble on down to your local record shop and pick up some cool releases.
Saving local, independent music stores is kind of a pet project for me, but that’s because I love things that some people don’t. I like to walk into a physical store and browse. I like to explore rack after rack of CD, vinyl, or tape. I like to just take in record stores, just like I like to support the drive-in movie. Music is wonderful by itself, but I think you need something like a record store to really get the right sensation.
Plus, I love a good limited edition ANYTHING, so this is the best possible chance to get those kind of things.
