After watching an episode of the HBO series “Six Feet Under” a few years back, one of my greatest fears is to get choked at home alone and be unable to dislodge the hunk of food and thus die.
Authorities aren’t sure exactly what caused B movie actress Yvette Vickers to die alone in her home in Benedict Canyon, California. Heck, they aren’t even sure when she died. Months and as much as a year may have passed with the former Playboy Playmate lying on her bedroom floor. Her corpse has been described as “mummified” by the passing of time, reminiscent of the mummy man found in Moscow. I’m guessing this was one Playmate Hef wouldn’t be eager to marry.
The body of Vickers, who performed in such forced perspective classics as “Attack of the Giant Leeches” and in “Attack of the 50-Foot Woman,” was discovered by a neighbor who noticed yellowing mail and cobwebs in her mailbox. The curious and worried neighbor found a way into the home that looked like a residence from the show “Hoarders”. In addition to the boxes and boxes of personal items, she found the dead actress in a bedroom.
This is the kind of tale that definitely makes me rethink living alone.
