You’d think native Angelinos would be immune to traffic problems, considering they live in one of the worst places in the entire world for traffic jams. Not a day goes by that there isn’t some kind of horrible traffic monstrosity in LA, and that situation is going to come to a head this weekend. Caltrans, AKA the California Department of Transportation, is shutting down a 10-mile stretch of the 405 connecting Los Angeles to San Fernando to destroy a bridge. LA has dubbed it Carmageddon; meanwhile, businesses are looking to cash in with 405-themed sales to celebrate Carmageddon.
The more interesting sale, to me? JetBlue, the discount air company, is offering $4 one-way flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Long Beach, California. That’s $4 for a 40-mile trip. More importantly, you fly right over the congested mess that will be the streets of LA. Talk about a great idea; whoever came up with this idea for JetBlue deserves a piece of the action for those $4 flights.
Good luck, California. You’re going to need it to make it through this weekend.
