You betcha! *wink*
People love their vanity plates. From Biotches to Cannibals, everyone wants to show their opinions via the power of that metal tag on the back of their car that shows it is a registered motor vehicle. This love of expression extends to politics. Las Vegas, Nevada man James Linlor is a devotee of the GOP and Sarah Palin, so he wanted a plate that reads GOPALIN. Seems a simple request, right? Well, Linlor says his GOPALIN plate was refused, and now he’s filing a lawsuit against the state of Nevada and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
As it turns out, the lawsuit might have some merit, if indeed Nevada refused to issue a pro-Palin plate. In the past, Nevada has issued vanity plates reading as follows: DEAN, RONPAUL, HILLARY, AL GORE, and DMOCRAT, among many others. However, GOPALIN is a step too far, or so says James Linlor; for their part, Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles chief Bruce Breslow says the state issued a GOPALIN plate in December.
