"Hey, little help here? C'mon guys, I don't have arms!"
Sometimes, you get trends, even among the animal kingdom. This time last year, a whale got viral fame by throwing himself onto a yacht. Well, monkey see, monkey do. Err, rather, shark see, shark do. A shark jumped into an Oceans Research vessel doing research in Mossel Bay, South Africa. Sharks are known for their leaping ability, usually jumping out of the water to snag prey, but that’s just crazy.
“I heard a splash and looked back to see a shark pretty much mid-air hovering above one of my interns,” said Dorien Schroder, one of the researchers who was chumming the water during one of Oceans Research’s shark counts. Here’s an ABC News clip with Ms. Schroder’s account of the events.

Meanwhile, the shark thrashed around on the deck until it got itself stuck between the boat’s engine and some containers, with Oceans Research staff keeping the shark’s skin hydrated until such time as it could work itself free and fall back into the water. The shark was stranded on the boat for over an hour, and the staff had to get a CRANE to get it free from the boat!
