He’s not the Six Million Dollar Man nor a Terminator from the future (or the past) with a robotic skeleton, but he is a wounded war veteran with electronic terminal devices, or prosthetics.
Dr. Daniel McConnell, who lost his right hand while serving in Afghanistan in 2008, has now lost three of his four prosthetic hands after a thoughtless thief stole a bag that stored the hands from McConnell’s car in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The veteran had just picked up the trio of prosthetic replacements from a “tune-up” when the theft occurred. The three hands are valued at nearly $12,000. There is no evidence that chopsticks were used in the theft.
Stealing is never a noble act, but to take a man’s hands – hands that he uses to help heal the sick – is even more heinous.
