In a move that’s sure to please Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions and broadcaster NBC, controversial host Ricky Gervais is going to be coming back for the third time. That’s right kids, Ricky Gervais is going to be hosting the Golden Globes yet again, turning the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s awards ceremony into something worth tuning in for once more. Cue the ratings machine! Cue the offended celebrities! Cue the legitimately interested viewing audience (at least for the opening)!
This is Gervais’s third year in a row. After hosting in 2010 and creating a stir, he was sure he wouldn’t be back. Then he came back for 2011’s Golden Globe ceremony. Now, he’s making it three for three with 2012. Here’s hoping his pointed celebrity barbs return with him, because he brings some much-needed levity to the stuffiness of the HFPA awards podium.
The 69th Annual Golden Globes will be broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California. Undoubtedly it will be on a 7-second delay, just in case Ricky does anything crazy.
