Apparently, today is the day in which I am a bearer of bad news.  To completely cover all the depressing news, tragedy has struck the family of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar.  The Duggars, stars of TLC’s reality hit “19 Kids and Counting,” were just celebrating the birth of their 19th child two years ago when Michelle announced a miracle:  she was pregnant, again.  Michelle Duggar has suffered a miscarriage.  Michelle and Jim Bob were at the doctor for Michelle’s 19th-week checkup, and they were hoping to find out the gender of the 20th baby for the pair.

“Earlier today at a routine doctor’s appointment, Michelle and I received the sad news that we lost the baby,” read a statement issued by Jim Bob Duggar. “We are grateful for all the thoughts and prayers, but ask for privacy during this difficult time.  We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, emails and outpouring of love.  As our whole family is grieving, we also know that God promises to work all things for good in our lives…. Our prayer is that baby Duggar’s passing will help us all realize that this life is short, and our relationship with Jesus is the most important thing.”

It was a miscarriage that actually started Jim Bob and Michelle’s quest to have as many children as biologically possible.  When Michelle and Jim Bob were younger, she had been taking birth control pills (like a normal person), but quit them to have the couple’s second child.  She suffered a miscarriage, and that’s when the Duggars became the face of the quiver full movement.  Hopefully, this will lead them to reconsider their ideological stance on child-bearing before anything else bad happens.
