Los Angeles has been the home to some impressively gristly murders, but even the City of Angels wasn’t prepared to find the scattered parts of a dead body in the shadows of one of their most iconic landmarks. In Bronson Canyon, near the Hollywood Hills home of the Hollywood sign, two people walking dogs made a horrifying discovery: a severed head, two hands, and two feet were found in a park in LA. Now, the search is on to find the rest of the corpse before nature takes its course.
A search party of 30 LAPD officers, 12 coroner’s investigators, a specialized SWAT team trained in mountaineering, and horse-mounted cops are searching a 7-acre section of Bronson Canyon near Griffith Park. Officers believe that the body parts may have been dragged into the area they were discovered in by animals and promptly abandoned. The most recent body parts were discovered on a secondary trail and mounted officers were searching a seven-acre section of Bronson Canyon, next to Griffith Park.
“We’re hoping that we can find more remains,” said Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith. Police believe the body has been in the park for 2 days; the remains identified so far are of a man with salt and pepper hair between 40 and 60 years of age.
