Most people when they masquerade as someone else pick out a person who is famous, or infamous as the case may be.
Madison, Wisconsin resident James Summers co-opted a much more bland persona when he perpetrated his unusual crime.
Summers, wearing a suit and tie and carrying a briefcase, walked into a Denny’s restaurant and claimed to be the new general manager. The manager on duty proclaimed she was unaware of any change in leadership, having received no contact from her corporate superiors to alert her to a change. While phone calls to superiors to confirm the new leadership were being made, Summers went into the kitchen and began to cook himself a meal. Instead of a Fried Cheese Melt, Summers opted to whip up a burger and an order of fries.
While there were no moon-rock selling grandmothers or school-skipping delinquents in the restaurant, soon enough it was confirmed that the “new manager” was an impostor. The police were called and Summers was arrested.
