Well, that was fast. One season, Steven Tyler joins American Idol as a new judge. The next thing you know, the show gets interesting with some weird guest singers and Steven Tyler is a hit. A strange hit, but a hit nonetheless. Next thing you know, Steven Tyler is quitting American Idol to concentrate on his band. It’s a little group called Aerosmith, maybe you’ve heard of it?
“I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band,” said Tyler of his decision to concentrate on his band rather than his reality TV gig.
Aerosmith, who is currently on a national tour, is planning on releasing a new album in the fall. Thus ends the two-year reign of Steven Tyler as American Idol’s craziest-looking judge. Paula is still the craziest judge, but Tyler definitely looks weirder than she ever did. Here’s hoping they can replace him with a suitable judge; American Idol suffered record low ratings, drawing only 21.5 million viewers for the finale.
