Whatever you might say about the general quality of the Paranormal Activity series, originator and creator Oren Peli stumbled across something genius when he took $15,000 and turned it into a 90-minute found footage horror movie that achieved its scares despite no budget, no exciting camera work, and mediocre acting. Since then, the Paranormal Activity series has shattered box office records and raked in hundreds of millions of dollars in profits, with Paranormal Activity 4 topping the box office this weekend. Well, more is on the way. Paranormal Activity 5 will be happening, along with a Latino spin-off.
As for the Latino-centric spin-off, the filming for that will be moved up six months to give it a Spring 2013 release date, about 6 months before Paranormal Activity 5. It will feature more hot demon action, presumably a little more of a Catholic flavor, and will be filmed partially in Spanish in addition to English. No details for the fifth film in the series have been released, but I’m sure Katie Featherston will be involved somehow.
