When it comes to DC, there are two marquee super heroes that the company has leaned on in lean times and boom. These are Batman and Superman. Batman has had a great deal of film success over the years, and the newest Superman movie has proven to be a blockbuster in its own right, too. That’s a good sign for one of the most beloved comic book pairings in the medium’s history. Warner Brothers has announced their intention to do a movie with both Batman and Superman.
In comic books, the pairing is known as World’s Finest, and there’s a history of some great conflict in that relationship. Batman and Superman, no matter who plays which role, have always gotten along but not without some stress between the two. Fortunately, it appears that the two movie franchises are going to officially join forces, with Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer working on the script under the supervision of Dark Knight creative team Christopher Nolan (who is producing).
“Whilst our Dark Knight trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters,” said Emma Thomas, one of the producers on the new World’s Finest movie.
Expect the team-up to hit theaters in the summer of 2015, with Henry Cavill taking up the Superman mantle opposite a brand-new Batman actor.
