NORAD’s Santa Tracker is live right now!
It’s one of the longest-running holiday traditions out there. Since 1955, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) have tracked Santa Claus on his yearly journey. What started out as a single call ages ago has become one of the most popular events in the country. While the tracking method has changed, the tradition remains. Right now, you can go follow Santa’s track throughout the world. Both Google and NORAD have active Santa tracking services right now, so pull up the app of your choice and chase down the jolly old elf himself.
For those mindful of government spending, there are over 1250 active-duty Canadian and American military members contributing their time, effort, and energy to answering phone calls, returning emails, and helping kids keep track of St. Nick’s trip around the world. However, the cost to the government is minimal, because the effort is funded entirely by sponsors. Plus, most of the assembled military are volunteering their time for the effort, rather than spending official time answering children’s emails.
Currently, Santa Claus is in East Asia, and he’s making good time.
