November 2012 was an awful day in human history. That’s the day the Hostess company closed its doors and Twinkies officially disappeared from store shelves. Well, fortunately for us, Twinkies made a comeback in a big day and now they seem to be back for good. Now, there’s an official replacement for the awesome old Hostess outlet stores that used to dot the country and that were full of some of the most delicious half-price treats imaginable. Twinkies are coming to Big Lots stores throughout the country.
“We are thrilled to team up with this iconic brand and give customers a new destination to find outstanding savings on the products they know and love,” said Big Lots CEO David Campisi.
This means that Big Lots’ 1493 stores will be getting the designation of The Official Hostess Thrift Outlet. That means that once Hostess products get down to 17 to 10 days left on their 45-day shelf life, they’ll find their way to the local Big Lots. Then it’s time for some lower-cost deliciousness. Seems like a win-win for all parties involved; Hostess gets to sell its older products, Big Lots gets a great way to get people into stores, and Hostess doesn’t have to reopen its closed storefronts.
