The 2014 Academy Awards happened last night, and lots of people have been paying attention to the comings and goings of Oscar and his celebrity friends. Indeed, it seems like one of the rare nights without much in the way of controversy, as all the major winners: 12 Years a Slave for Best Picture, Alfonso Cuaron for Best Director, Spike Jonze for Best Original Screenplay, Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey for Best Actress and Actor, Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Leto for Best Supporting Actress and Actor, and so on. Here’s the complete 2014 Oscars roundup, but the stars got outshined last night by a dude making minimum wage. (Even another Jennifer Lawrence fall was forgotten!)
As one of her bits, Ellen Degeneres went around the crowd and asked various celebrities if they wanted some pizza. They, of course, said they did, so after a few awards and some commercials, Ellen emerged from backstage with a pizza delivery guy from Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria in Los Angeles. Turns out, he was a real pizza delivery guy and it was real pizza delivered. Lots of celebrities, from Brad Pitt to Jennifer Lawrence to Kerry Washington and Meryl Streep got to dig into a little snack, though things got even more awkward when Ellen passed around Pharrell Williams’ hat to pay the piper.
