I expect a football-themed version of this outfit.

She’s one of the biggest stars in what’s left of the music industry, she was part of a huge celebrity marriage and divorce, and now she’ll get to put her talents on display in front of the entire world.  She is none other than Katy Perry, the candy cupcake queen of pop, and she’s going to take her glittery, sugary show to one of the biggest stages imaginable.  It’s Super Bowl 49, and given that the Super Bowl is one of the most-watched events in the world, it’s a huge opportunity for KP to expand her audience and get her face out in front of the world.  Katy Perry will be the halftime entertainment for Super Bowl XLIX at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

On one hand, it’s kind of a strange selection for the NFL, since I’m not sure Katy Perry has much of a crossover following with NFL fans.  However, despite her occasional controversy with Muppets, she’s a pretty safe choice since she tends to hit the stage fully dressed (or at least adequately covered enough to avoid any Janet Jackson flashing flashbacks).  I have no doubt it will be a huge, crazy performance full of lots of lights and explosions and synchronized dancing, if only because it’s Katy Perry and especially because it’s the Super Bowl.

Now we just have to figure out what two teams are going to be interrupted by a pop show.
