Everyone loves Tom Brady now that he’s a bad boy rule-breaker.
The road to Super Bowl XLIV is paved with deflated balls, courtesy of the AFC and Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. The NFL ruled that the Patriots did use intentionally deflated footballs during the first half of the AFC Championship game, and now the face of the franchise is going to take a bruising. Tom Brady will be suspended for four games over his lack of cooperation with the NFL’s Deflategate investigation. Brady refused to turn over his cell phone to investigators, which is perfectly legal, but also the kind of thing that gets on commissioner Roger Goodell’s nerves.
The Patriots will be losing a cool $1 million dollars, as well as their first round pick in 2016 and fourth round pick in 2017. However, weep not for Patriots owner Robert Kraft, because he’ll get his money back pretty quickly. Tom Brady jersey sales have doubled since the suspension. The draft picks might be a problem, but then again, all they have to do is make a few trades and I’m sure they can get their draft picks back, if they really want them.
