One of the biggest stories in the news over the last few months has been the former US Olympian and Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner and his transition from male to female. Not long ago, Bruce made a very public appearance changing to Caitlyn, and now Apple has honored her transition in a very public way. If you ask Siri about Bruce Jenner, the digital assistant corrects you to Caitlyn Jenner.
The correction was first captured by a Tumblr user named Daviesha. Apparently all requests for Bruce Jenner are changed to Caitlyn, as you can see by the screenshots at the top of the post. If you ask a question about Bruce Jenner’s real name, Siri responds with “Caitlyn Jenner’s full name is Caitlyn Jenner.” I guess she doesn’t have a middle name?
This seems to be related to the latest round of updates to Apple’s popular digital assistant Siri, which debuted back on the iPhone 4S in 2011. Nice to see that Siri’s sassiness covers more than just easy math questions.
