The Transportation Security Agency is an agency that’s basically out of control. They’ve already been sued for abusing their power, and that lawsuit hasn’t really changed things all that much. TSA screeners still abuse their power, and one gross example of abuse took that quite literally. A TSA security screener used his position to lure a woman into a bathroom and molest her under the guise of a security check at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The guard, 40-year-old Maxie Oquendo, said the 22-year-old woman was undergoing a security search.
“Supposedly he took her into another area using his official position, being in uniform, and she thought it was a part of his official duty,” said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Joe Pentangelo.
Oquendo has been arrested on charges of forcible touching, unlawful imprisonment, and official misconduct. Unsurprisingly, he has been fired by the TSA and now he’s facing jail time for his fondling fit. Given the liberties TSA agents take in searches, maybe this will spark some much-needed reform in the agency. After all, some jackass off the street shouldn’t have the power to abuse and torment his fellow Americans.
