You have 10 days or so to save up $649 plus taxes or find a smuggler. That’s the going rate for the new iPhone 7, which will be hitting store shelves on September 16. (The $649 will get you the small 32GB edition of the iPhone.) If you want a new Apple Watch, that’ll be a relative bargain at only $349. Apple announced the iPhone 7 and the second-generation Apple Watch at a big press event today.
Thousands of people packed into the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, where Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced the assembled press gathered in San Francisco to the newest goodies to come out of Cupertino, California. The iPhone is packed with new features: it’s water resistant, has stereo speakers finally, boasts longer battery life, and on the 7 Plus, there’s a new camera that allows for telephoto photography. The Apple Watch is also now water resistant, which is a good thing to have in a watch that will probably get sweat on during hot summer days.
So updates on products that have already sold millions. That’s all well and good, but Apple has one new announcement. Wireless earphones that have been dubbed AirPods, which are basically the same ear buds you already have, just without a wire and much easier to lose. AirPods will run you $159 if you’re interested (or you could just get normal bluetooth headphones).
