No crime, no politics, no murders. Sounds like a slow news day, doesn’t it? Well, not to the publishers of Croatian newspaper 24 Sata. Yesterday, December 30, Croatian newspaper 24 Sata ran a special edition that featured nothing but good, positive news. On the cover was a giant, happy, yellow smiley face. Inside, there were stories about successful businessmen, a barber who cuts the hair of orphans for free, and the rescue of Rebel the dog.
The executive editor of 24 Sata, Alen Galovic, argues that 2010 was depressing and the good news edition “brings a little light and a bit of hope.” So, despite a political crisis crippling Zagreb in which the ex-prime minister is accused of corruption, there was nothing but positivity throughout 24 Sata. Well, except for the horoscopes; there were still a few depressing entries there, but beside that, it was a positive news day in Croatia.
Despite being a negative person, I actually really like this idea. Wouldn’t it be nice to have one day a month, or even one day a year, in which nobody gets depressed about everything and we all try to focus on the positive things in life?
