Oh animals. Will you never learn not to put your respective heads in holes in walls? A hedgehog was stuck in a wall and had to be rescued. Rebel, an 8-month-old German Shepherd, had to be rescued after getting his head stuck in a hole in a wall in Desert Hot Springs, California. Well, I guess if people can be stuck in holes, anything can be dumb enough to get caught in a hole.
“My initial reaction was, ‘Wow, how’d he get in there? And why is there a hole that big in the wall?'” said Rebel’s rescuer, Riverside County Animal Services Sgt. James Huffman. “Somehow he got in through there, so we knew we could get him out. But our main concern was not hurting him in doing so. He let us know if we were pushing too hard – but he kept working right along with us. He helped a lot. You could see his hind legs stiffen to assist in the direction we were going. He knew we were there to save him.”
Fortunately for Rebel, there was plenty of room for him to breathe. Rescue officials were even able to push Rebel’s head out of the hole in the wall, meaning the wall was unharmed during the course of the rescue. Neither was Rebel, for that matter; animal control officers made sure to hold his ears back to prevent them from being injured. After 30 minutes of pushing for all involved, Rebel was free.
