As a vehicle owner, I’m used to keeping my eyes peeled while driving along the highways and byways. It’s best to be alert to avoid collisions with, not only other vehicles, but dogs and cats and kids darting into my path. Living in a rural area, critters like deer, opossums and raccoons also likely to wander across the roads.
I really can’t imagine my reaction if I drove past thousands of dollars blowing across the highway.
A driver in Delaware, Ohio spotted something green other than grass in the median earlier this week. The green they drove past was cash — piles and piles of cash.
Police from the suburb just north of Columbus shut down the road for hours in order to collect the billowing bills. One officer described the scene by saying “it looked as though the field was growing money.”
After checking with area banks, the FBI and an armored car company, the source of the lost money was yet to be identified.
Though a specific dollar amount was not released, the total value of money found was said to be in the “five figures.” Apparently, it was more than the $10,000 found by an honest K-Mart employee.
And there’s no need to take a detour to Ohio. Officers are discouraging anyone from stopping to look for stray bills, saying they collected all the cash.
