Feel the burn has a whole new meaning for extreme eating contestants in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Whether its hot dogs or buffalo wings, eating competitions are in vogue right now.
The challenge to eat extremely spicy hot bowls of chilli curry hosted by Kismot Restaurant left competitors writhing on the floor in agony, vomiting and panting. This stuff is a whole lot hotter than the aphrodisiac chocolate and curry prawns dish handed down through generations. The contest included 10 bowls of the super spicy curry starting with the mildest and advancing to the most extreme level called Killer Kismot. Ten of the 20 people who signed the unusual disclaimer to compete didn’t even begin eating after seeing the first wave of agony induced by the chilli curry.
Two members of the British Red Cross were on hand for the event, but they pair was overwhelmed by the number of contestants needing assistance, so an ambulance was called. Runner-up Curie Kim was so ill after eating the Killer curry, she went to the infirmary twice after the contest.
Restaurant owner Abdul Ali said he plans to hold the contest which raises money for charity again in the future, but will tone it down some.
