It’s the most wonderful time of the year. It’s December, and that means it’s pretty much the beginning of the Christmas season, and there won’t be a non-twinkling light at the end of the tunnel until well into January’s doldrums. But hey, why knock it when you can join right in? There are 22 days until Christmas Eve, and that means there are still 22 days to prepare for Santa’s arrival, and Google is there to help you. Google’s Santa Tracker has gone live and it’s better than ever.
This is both the website and the app-based version; as usual, the NORAD radar tracker won’t go live until the big guy’s big night. Even when it does, I’m sure Google will have an alternative to NORAD since they signed a deal with Bing to be the official Santa tracker. Maybe NASA? Either way, with a new year comes new features, which I’ll mention before.
It’s not just for fun and games this year. Well, there are a lot of games available on the website to help get kids–and bored cube workers–into the Christmas spirit, but there’s also an educational component. For the first time, the Santa Tracker is also going to help teach kids how to code, with little lessons in Javascript coding. There’s also an educational component about how kids around the world celebrate the holidays, which should be edutaining as well. There are also fun games and videos to keep the hos ho-hoing.
