The City Brewing Company tries its best to be a good neighbor. Located in the heart of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the brewery has been the home of all sorts of brews over the years, from Phoenix to Old German and Rolling Rock. Now, among the drinks it makes is Iron City Beer, the city beer of Pittsburgh. Well, that’s what it did make until city officials shut the brewery down over smells coming from the sewers around the facility.
Apparently, city manager Tom Gray says that the brewery’s sugar-ladened drinks are causing wastewater treatment problems for the city, thus the smell coming from around the company’s factory. The brewery was taken offline on Tuesday, with officials meeting last night to discuss the problem and set up a timetable for solving the problem and reopening the brewery. After all, people need to work and they definitely need their beer.
Maybe a few free samples at the next neighborhood block party might win the locals back over!
