The Force is strong with this one. Spike TV has rolled out an ad campaign using lightsabers and bus stops to appeal to your inner geek. With the instructions “Use only in case of Sith” printed on the outside, these bus shelter ads display lightsabers (yes, real ones) behind glass casing.
Nobody has tried breaking into the emergency Jedi weapons yet, presumably because no Sith have been spotted near West 34th Street and Eighth Avenue.
Just give it a week or two.
At night, these ads really show off — as long as you don’t get them confused with fluorescent back lighting. It’s still a clever way to reach out to Star Wars fans. Cool points go out to the marketers behind this project. If this works, perhaps we’ll see lightsabers included with every marketing campaign from now on!
