I have always loved Legos. As a child, I was absolutely smitten with knights in combat, castles, and all things medieval. Legos, with their knight-themed play sets, ready-to-build castles, and little poseable Lego dudes with swords, filled the bill for many hours of medieval mounted combat and reenactments of Tours or Agincourt or my own twisted version of history where King Arthur and Robin Hood team up to fight off the French. While I had a blast with Legos then, and still have some Lego castles assembled in my closet beneath a layer of dust, I never did anything as cool as these Lego (and Rubix cube) designs.
One of the benefits of using the little Lego figures for medieval combat is that, even as a kid, I knew swords cut people up. Lego figures, with their removable hands, legs, and heads, were both easy to customize and easy to mutilate. You could pull the legs out and fit a Lego spear perfectly in the gap between the legs and torso for perfectly impaled footmen. Yes, I was a weird child, and I remain a weird adult.
