Toilet paper rolls are pretty useful if you have pets. Dogs love to chew on them. Cats love to roll them around. Hamsters love to crawl through them and chew on them, too. You can even use them to hold toilet paper if you’re feeling reckless. But did you know you could make art out of them? Junior Jacquet did, which explains his collection of colored, crumpled cardboard faces included in his collection LOUDreams.
It kind of reminds me a little of the screaming newspaper sculpture and the weird, creepy pencil faces in that the images look both unhappy and slightly disturbing. However, they are very colorful. The pastel helps a little bit to reduce the discomforting factor of smushy-looking dwarf faces, right?
How does someone ever discover they can do this sort of thing? It seems like a really random skill to pick up. It’s like garbage origami.
