I saw The Fantastic Mr. Fox this weekend, and like many of you, I thought it was impossible for foxes to buy homes, wear corduroy suits, and outsmart mean old alcoholic British farmers. However, it turns out all those impossible feats of personification that Mr. Fox can do are, in fact, real. I make this bold claim because Kate Arkless Gray, a freelance journalist living in London, recently spotted a fox hopping onto the subway at Walthamstow Central Station.
As it turns out, not every fox is rude enough to just hitch a ride on a stranger’s car. Some foxes avail themselves of mass transit, just like every other conscientious urban dweller. Now, station staff shut down the escalator and eventually, the fox decided that dealing with the dangers of the train just wasn’t worth it. Good thing, too; miraculous rescues from a speeding train only happen so often.
He was last spotted heading towards the bus station (no, really!).
