Any good motorist has some emergency supplies in their car. Even most of us bad motorists carry around extra oil, radiator fluid, and a spare tire. If you’re prepared, you’ll have a pry bar, maybe a flashlight or some flares, and even a spare blanket. Even if you don’t have any of that stuff, you’ve probably got a cell phone and unlike what horror movies might tell you, you can generally get a signal along any interstate. But what of our subway-riding urban friends? There’s now a survival kit made just for the urban commuter, so never fear!
I have a friend who takes the underground into work every morning in London, England. I’ve lost track of how often she’s said things like, “Oh, the train broke down today, so I was stuck in the car for four hours.” If it was my personal train, or an IKEA train, I wouldn’t mind so much. But stuck on a train with other people and uncomfortable plastic seats? No thank you. I’m starting to panic just thinking about it.
