Ever since Back To The Future Part II came out in 1989, everyone has wanted two things. One, Marty McFly’s self-lacing future shoes. Two, a hoverboard. We haven’t perfected time-travel, though there were lookalikes of Marty’s shoes released for Back To The Future Day a few years ago. But no hoverboard. Well, not until Japanese car-maker Lexus did the impossible. Lexus has built a working hoverboard. You can see it in the ad below.

The hoverboard might be real, but it’s not meant to be a real thing people can buy; instead, Lexus is just showing off their technical skills using magnets and nitrogen-fueled superconductors to elevate the board. Many other companies, like Google, have tried to make a working hoverboard, but nobody has been able to make it commercially successful. Yet.
“It’s just trying to push the design and innovation envelope and show it to the world,” said Lexus spokeswoman Allison Takahashi in a heart-shattering announcement.
