One of the dangers of kittens is that they like to be near cars (that’s how I ended up with my cat; she was using my van as a shade tree one summer). Especially in winter time, there’s a real danger of a young, orphaned kitty curling up near or inside an automobile to leech off some of the heat leaking from the vehicle. That probably explains why when Marc Lichty started his drive from Olympia, Washington to Tualatin, Oregon, he had a stowaway. A 3-month-old kitten rode 120 miles in the wheel well of Lichty’s SUV.
Fortunately, this story ends well, but a lot of them don’t. Lichty and his family called around the area where he was working, but nobody lost a kitten. Now the unnamed little thing has a new family to go with its incredible story of survival. Living unharmed through a 120-mile trip in sub-zero temperatures is a pretty impressive feat!
